Master Zhao Hai Chuan, also known by his Buddhist name Shi Xingchuan (释行川), is a 32nd-generation Warrior Monk of Song Shan Shaolin Temple in China. He began his formal Kung Fu training at the age of 8, following the traditional path of the temple. Recognized for his exceptional ability, he was selected to join the Shaolin Warriors — an elite international performing team — and starting in 2000, toured more than 80 countries and regions across six continents as both performer and cultural ambassador for the Shaolin tradition.
During his performing career, Master Zhao led Shaolin teams onto some of the world's most celebrated stages, including the Royal Opera House in London, the Sydney Opera House in Australia, Broadway Theater in New York, the Taipei National Theater (2005), the Hong Kong Arts Festival (2006), and the Normandy International Arts Festival in France (2006). From 2011 to 2013, he was selected as one of 18 Shaolin Kung Fu Warriors worldwide to perform with Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus — one of the world's three largest circus organizations — completing a two-year, 47-state tour across the United States. He also appeared in several Kung Fu films and television productions during this period.
In 2013, Master Zhao chose to settle permanently in the United States and commit himself to full-time teaching. He has been based at a Shaolin Kung Fu institute in San Jose, California ever since, bringing the same dedication and standard that defined his performing career into every class he teaches.
Master Zhao is as passionate about teaching Kung Fu as he is about practicing it. His teaching style is grounded in positive reinforcement — he consistently encourages and praises students, creating an environment where effort is recognized and progress feels rewarding. At the same time, he holds Kung Fu in deep respect and holds high expectations for every student, believing that doing so is itself an expression of confidence in each student's potential.
